| Change in the BARTEC shareholder structure –
Capvis acquires majority |
The Swiss private equity firm Capvis has acquired the majority of BARTEC. Together
with the new partner, the safety technology company located in Bad Mergentheim now intends to strengthen and develop its presence in existing and new international markets in order to become the worldwide leading provider of industrial safety technology. Since 2002, the majority of the BARTEC shares had been held by Allianz Capital Partners. The transaction remains subject to the approval by the relevant anti-trust authorities.
Bad Mergentheim/Germany. BARTEC’s international business in the industrial safety technology segment, its global reach and applications in process industries such as the oil and gas, chemicals, petrochemicals as well as pharmaceuticals industry, offers vast opportunities for growth. Already in 2002, BARTEC was able to gain Allianz Capital Partners as a partner to finance the dynamic growth.
The founder, the Barlian family and BARTEC management remained minority shareholders at that time. By consistently investing into technical innovations and by extending the international market position, the BARTEC management very successfully exploited the available growth opportunities:
Today, BARTEC is the European market leader in industrial safety technology and has also established a strong presence in growth markets such as Asia and the Middle East. The aim is to further develop the BARTEC Group with a view to becoming the worldwide leading safety technology provider and to further strengthen the Group’s market position through organic growth and targeted acquisitions.
Now the basis for a successful further development of the Group has been created:
The Swiss private equity firm Capvis provides the platform for the further successful development of the Group. The BARTEC management continues to be invested as a minority shareholder. The aim of Capvis is to invest into attractive companies, to cooperate with the management in releasing additional entrepreneurial potential and to further develop the strategic and operational potential of the investment companies. The successful reorientation of BARTEC safeguards jobs and apprenticeship places at home and abroad. The parties have agreed that the purchase price will not be disclosed.

Internationalisation, innovation and safety are the predominant topics of the future
With the Expert Congress on the topic of safety taking place in Bad Mergentheim every year, BARTEC Safe.t® Academy offers an ideal platform for the exchange of information and experiences between manufacturers, operators, testing authorities and the legislator.
Under the main topic of ”Chances arising from innovations in safety technology – Internationalisation and harmonisation“, renowned referents from economy, science and ministries will talk about their practical experiences on October 4/5, 2007. Not only the latest branch trends will be discussed, but also special topics such as internationalisation and innovation. Participants will have the unique occasion of receiving information on the highest level. The final panel discussions with the referents will intensify the exchange of experience.
The 3rd BARTEC Expert Congress is organised by BARTEC Safe.t® Academy, Bad Mergentheim. Founded in 2004, it has become a place for the permanent exchange of knowledge and experience for manufacturers, operators, legislators and testing authorities. | An important meeting in Kuala Lumpur |
BARTEC Singapore supplied PETRONAS our materials and engineering support in various PETRONAS projects in Asia. In 2006, we completed the installation of 12km of heating cables for the Thar Jath Project in Sudan managed by PETRONAS where we supplied the entire engineering, drawing and documentation including the supervision during the installation stage in adverse conditions of the desert.
Mr Köster, CEO of BARTEC GROUP And Mr Luciano Checco, Managing Director of BARTEC Asia had the opportunity to meet with Vice President of PETRONAS, YBHG Datuk Anuar Ahmad & Senior General Manager of PETRONAS, Mr Mohd Suhaimi Yasin on November 14, 2006 at Level 80, Tower 1, PETRONAS Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur.
During the discussion they exchanged valuable information and ideas to strengthen both companies' ties and co-orporation and also increase business activities in the Asian Region as well as the international market which highly benefits both parties in the Oil and Gas Industry. |

For the first time in Asia, the Safe.T ® Technology Workshop 2007 organized by BARTEC Asia , took place back to back from 21-29 November in four Southeast Asia countries.
The first leg began in Kuala Lumpur and ended in Bangkok. The response has been overwhelming for all countries despite the odds of a natural disaster which happened in Jakarta.
This workshop also provided a channel for open discussions between participants and BARTEC Product specialists on their focus areas of topics. Our workshop participants from each countries not only bring home a bag of BARTEC premium sourvenirs but also bags of valuable knowledge and insights gained from our products specialists on
